I have dedicated my professional life to helping students and families in navigating the college exploration, planning, and application process. I began my career in college admissions at my alma mater, Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.  As Associate Director of Admissions, I recruited, interviewed, and reviewed applications for thousands of students annually.  After beginning graduate school in Public Policy at the University of Chicago, I decided to work in Development at Northwestern University. However, my passion for working with students brought me back to my home state of Minnesota as Associate Director of Admissions at Hamline University. I guided both freshman and transfer students through the application process and developed a recruiting strategy for the East and West Coasts.

In the mid-1990s, I served the Perpich Center for Arts Education­­­ for five years—a celebrated public high school for the arts and teacher education. I assisted in enrollment planning, marketing, and legislative communication, helping to attract artistically-talented students from around Minnesota.

My desire to work directly with students brought me back to my K-12 alma mater, The Blake School. I worked with an array of very talented students and dedicated parents as Associate Director of Admissions and College Counseling for 13 years.

The past nine years, I have been working as an independent consultant. Whether the student is a 9th grader selecting courses and activities or a 12th grader about to start writing essays and completing applications, I listen closely to help them discover the future path that’s best. No two are the same.

Having had the privilege to work on both the college and high school student sides of the admissions process, I am very grateful to have had the experience from both perspectives—as a decision maker and an applicant adviser.  This can be invaluable as I help students to craft their college choices and learn how to best present themselves.

With more than thirty five years of national experience and active participation in professional associations, I bring historic insights to changes in the admissions process as well as current trends.  I maintain a network of professionals in college admissions nationwide who offer direct information about specific schools and emerging trends overall.
